ABOUT ABOUT NASTAThe owners of North American SWAT Training Association welcomes this opportunity to introduce you to, what we believe to be, the most professional, comprehensive, and individualized tactical training programs in the United States. They are two full-time police officers have served the major metropolitan area of Columbus Ohio. Columbus is the state capital of Ohio and has benefited from the presence of a full-time SWAT Section for the past 37 years. Lieutenant Stephen J. Schwab and Officer James J. Scanlon have a total of 67 years of experience in the field of law enforcement and 24 years of experience with the Columbus SWAT Section. Years of training, instructing, and practical experience give the staff at NASTA the knowledge and expertise necessary to customize a training program best suited to the needs of your agency. As in all training, tactical training can only be successful if the instructors possess the knowledge, practical experience, and ability to deliver that information in their specific area of expertise. We are confident that the members of our NASTA Training Staff have the ability to satisfy your needs in every aspect of law enforcement training. Only those who have demonstrated the highest degree of experience and expertise, in a given law enforcement discipline, are permitted to instruct for NASTA. Those of us in the law enforcement community are well aware of the significance regarding police training programs as it pertains to our court system. As our actions are scrutinized, and second-guessed in criminal and civil courts, the professionalism of your training programs can be your salvation. The professional training provided to your department by the NASTA staff, which is based on our unparalleled experience and expertise, will help you to reduce your civil liability. Our training goal is to enable others to transform very dangerous and violent situations into those in which everyone can walk away from safely. ACTIVE SHOOTER ACTIVE SHOOTER - QUAD®The public and press have scrutinized police responses to recent violent attacks in schools, churches, and places of business. NASTA has developed seminars that address both the philosophical and tactical response necessary to enable police to effectively manage these situations. QUAD® (QUick Action Deployment) weighs the requirement to respond immediately to a crisis situation, with that of concerns for officer safety. Additionally it implements a rescue and/or search formation that single or multi-jurisdictional agencies can employ with limited training. NASTA has developed three QUAD® Training Seminars. BASIC SWAT BASIC SWAT SCHOOLThe staff at NASTA has developed a tactical schoolcurriculum that will serve all law enforcement officers, the tactical officer, and/or tactical team. Within this 40-hour block of training, the NASTA instructors will evaluate and then improve upon the skills of each student, as they pertain to SWAT techniques. ADVANCED SWAT ADVANCED SWAT SCHOOLThe dynamics of conducting a narcotics search warrant are completely different than those used during a hostage situation. If we are going to be deployed in both situations, we should prepare for both. The staff at NASTA has developed an Advanced SWAT School curriculum which enables your "tactical entry team" officers to effectively deal with hostage/barricade situations. This course was designed for those officers who have completed the Basic SWAT School. The following list comprises a sample of classes that will be presented in the Advanced SWAT School. PATROL RIFLE NASTA has the resources to develop any course that suits your specific training needs. NASTA will assist your agency in bringing any course you need to your location.
